Reduce dialysis side effects

Hemodialysis is one of the most important methods for the treatment of uremia, but there are many side effects after hemodialysis, which makes the patients very headache. The following is to introduce the common side effects of hemodialysis and how to deal with it.

  Dry skin and itching

Dialysis patients often describe skin dryness and itching, especially when dry in winter, the most important reason is that the level of phosphorus in the patient is too high. Therefore, the control of phosphorus intake in the patient's diet is the key to improving the patient's skin symptoms. At the same time, patients can use skin soaps and moisturizing skin to protect the skin to relieve symptoms.

  Pyrogen reaction

Usually no medicine, high fever can reduce the temperature of dialysate, use antiamines, hormones and antipyretic drugs, as appropriate.

  The dialysis disequilibrium syndrome

The incidence was 3.4% - 20%, mainly manifested as nausea, vomiting, irritability, and so on, and severe convulsions, coma, and even death.

Light patients need not be treated. The most important treatment is immediate hypertonic solution, albumin, sedation and other symptomatic treatment if necessary.

  Restless legs syndrome

Patients with leg muscle and nerve prickle or paresthesia and constantly move his legs called restless legs syndrome. At the same time, diabetes, kidney disease and other vitamin B deficiency would lead to "restless legs syndrome".

When the dialysis patient finds that he may have "restless leg syndrome", it should be timely informed of the nephrologist to give the corresponding diagnosis and drug treatment.

  Dialysis muscle spasm

It is one of the most common side effects of hemodialysis, the incidence of 10%-15%, the main site is the gastrocnemius, foot, the other parts of the upper limb and abdominal muscles.

The cause of the production is not very clear. It may be related to the lack of hypoxia, low sodium and circulation blood in the dialysis tissue. Spasms can be improved by stretching spasmodic muscles or by local hot compress.
